The CableCARD™ replaces your cable box, and tells the TiVo DVR which channels you are authorized to receive. Call your cable company to schedule the installation of a CableCARD decoder into your TiVo HD or TiVo Series3 DVR.

The TiVo HD DVR uses either ONE Multi-stream CableCARD (M-Card) or TWO Single-stream CableCARDs (S-Card). Either of these configurations will allow the DVR to record two channels at once.

The TiVo Series3 HD DVR uses TWO Single-stream CableCARDs (S-Card) or two Multi-Stream CableCARDs (M-Card). If only one card is installed in the DVR you will only be able to record one channel at a time.
