Can I activate TiVo service and redeem my TiVo service gift subscription or gift card over the phone?

Yes, by calling TiVo Customer Support at 877-367-8486. When activating TiVo service for your TiVo DVR over the phone, be sure to provide your 9 or 12-digit gift card redemption code to the customer support representative.

Can I give my TiVo service gift subscription or gift card to someone else?

Yes. If the TiVo service gift subscription or gift card has not been redeemed, you may give it to someone else.

Can I use a TiVo service gift subscription or gift card to activate DIRECTV DVR with TiVo (on an integrated DIRECTV satellite receiver and TiVo DVR)?

No. TiVo service gift cards do not apply towards the DIRECTV DVR with TiVo. All DIRECTV products that use the TiVo service are solely supported and maintained by DIRECTV. DIRECTV provides all customer service, including service activation, customer account inquiries, and basic technical/troubleshooting support.

Can I use a TiVo service gift subscription or gift card to activate service on a new, used, or factory-renewed TiVo DVR?

Yes. TiVo service gift cards can be redeemed to activate a new TiVo or TiVo Plus™ service plan on any TiVo DVR, excluding the DIRECTV DVR with TiVo service.

Can I use more than one TiVo service gift subscription or gift card to pay for TiVo service on a single DVR?

No. You can only use one TiVo service gift subscription or gift card per new TiVo service activation.

Can I use my TiVo service gift subscription or gift card toward the purchase of a TiVo DVR or other store items?

No. TiVo service gift cards may only be redeemed for a new TiVo service activation. They cannot be applied towards a TiVo DVR or TiVo accessories.

Can my TiVo gift subscription or gift card be applied toward a subscription eligible for Multi-service discount?

Yes, you may apply your TiVo service card toward an additional TiVo DVR on the same account. See Multi-service discount terms and conditions for more details.

During activation, I get an error message that the TiVo service gift card redemption code is invalid.

Please be sure you are using the 9 or 12-digit gift card redemption code located on the order confirmation email or packing slip that came with your TiVo DVR if ordered directly from TiVo. If you are encountering problems, please contact TiVo Customer Support at 877-367-8486. It can take 24-48 hours from your receipt of the TiVo service gift card for it to become valid. If you recently received the gift card, please wait at least 24 hours before redeeming, and then try the code again.

How do I redeem my TiVo service gift card?

Important: A TiVo service gift card must be redeemed at the time of a new TiVo service activation by providing the 9 or 12-digit gift card redemption code or the 12-digit gift card PIN#. Here's how to activate the TiVo service using a gift card: Locate the 9 or 12-digit gift card redemption code on your TiVo® service gift card.

  • To activate online go to www.tivo.com/activate and follow these easy steps:
    • Click the "Activate your TiVo service" button.
    • Follow the onscreen steps.
    • Choose your billing option
    • After you've given your credit card information, don't forget to enter your 9 or 12-digit gift card redemption code.
  • To activate over the phone call TiVo Customer Support at 877- 367-8486.
I already have TiVo service. Can I use a TiVo service gift subscription or gift card toward my current monthly service subscription?

No. TiVo service gift subscriptions and gift cards can only be used to activate NEW TiVo service-only subscriptions. TiVo service gift subscriptions and gift cards cannot be used as a credit for an existing TiVo service account.

What if I forget to use my TiVo service gift subscription or gift card during activation?

TiVo service gift cards that were not used during activation may not be redeemed after service is activated. However, the unused gift card can be used on another new activation of the TiVo service–for example, a second unit in household or by another new subscriber.

What if I lose my TiVo service gift card?

TiVo is not responsible for lost or stolen TiVo service gift cards. However, if you have received a gift card and have lost the redemption code, contact TiVo Customer Support at 877-367-8486 and they will research your case. You will need to provide the following information to the customer support representative:

  • TiVo Service Number
  • Gift giver's name
  • Gift recipient's name
  • TiVo service gift card reference number (if available)

If we determine that the TiVo service gift card is still valid, we will provide you with a valid TiVo service gift card redemption code via email. We will contact you by email once we have canceled the original gift card and issued you a new one. If the TiVo service gift card has already been redeemed and is no longer valid, we will notify you via email.

What is a TiVo service gift card?

A TiVo service gift card is pre-paid TiVo service and is only available for order direct from TiVo. It is available in dollar denominations ranging from $50 to $300, and can be applied to any new TiVo service plan. The gift card can be redeemed for TiVo service plans at the time of activation by entering the 12-digit gift card redemption code. When you redeem your gift card, the terms and conditions of the service plan you select will apply.

What is a redemption code?

A redemption code is a 12-digit alphanumeric code or PIN# that the gift recipient receives in order to redeem their TiVo service gift card when activating TiVo service. This number is unique to each TiVo service gift card and cannot be used more than once.

What is the value of a TiVo service gift subscription or gift card?

It depends on which type of TiVo service gift card you purchase. While there is no "cash" value for TiVo service gift cards, they come in increments ranging from $50 to $300. Gift cards can be redeemed for any TiVo service plan available at the time of redemption. TiVo service plan prices are subject to change. See current TiVo service price plans.

Why am I being asked to enter my credit card information if I have a TiVo service gift card?

At the time of activation, we require credit card information from all TiVo subscribers. If you choose a monthly billing option and apply a gift card toward this option, you will be charged the regular monthly fee only after your gift card has been fully used. You may go to your account at tivo.com/manage to change your billing and account information at any time.
