My DVR cannot find my music or photos server (Macintosh)

If the Music or Photos server is not showing, perform the following steps:

 

Step one: Verify that TiVo Desktop is installed on a Mac that contains your music and photo files. If you have not installed TiVo Desktop, go to the TiVo Desktop Download page.

  
 

Note:Always make sure that you have the most current version of TiVo Desktop for Mac that is available at  www.tivo.com/desktop .

 

Step two: Verify that the Mac is turned on and that TiVo Desktop is running. From the Apple menu, click System Preferences.

Step three: Under Other, click TiVo Desktop.

Step four:On the left-hand side of the TiVo Desktop window, verify it says TiVo Desktop On. If it says TiVo Desktop Off, click Start.

Note: The music and photos on your Macintosh will not show up on the TiVo Digital Video Recorder (DVR) until you have published content using TiVo Desktop. TiVo Desktop will not run unless you have content available in iTunes and/or iPhoto. For more information, go to How do I publish music and photos using TiVo Desktop?

 

Step five:Make sure that TiVo Desktop is enabled in the built-in Mac firewall. From the Apple menu, click System Preferences.

Step six: Under Internet & Network, click Sharing.

Step seven:From the Firewall tab, click to select TiVoDesktop (8101).

Note: If you have another software-based firewall such as Black Ice, Norton Internet Security, or McAfee Personal Firewall installed on your Mac, it may be necessary to adjust your settings to allow TiVo Desktop to function correctly. For more information, refer to the documentation that came with your firewall.

 

Note:If you have Virtual Private Networking (VPN) software such as Cisco CPN or IBM NetStructure installed on your Mac, you may need to adjust your settings or turn off your VPN software in order to use Music & Photos. Please check with your system administrator for these changes.
